Rule Number One: dress who you are and not who you would like to be. It's what you wear and how you wear it that counts.
Most larger men try to hide their size by slouching and sucking in their stomachs. This has the opposite effect. Rule Number Two: Walk Tall, head back, keep the chin (or chins) up and keep your back straight. Be proud of who and what you are.
The most important way to look good is to choose clothes that are the correct size. We may be on a diet now, but 95% of dieters put the weight back on and yo-yo dieting is bad for us. Rule Number 3: buy clothes that fit, no matter what the label says. Clothes that are too tight make you look bigger!
Rule Number 4: if you want to wear elasticated trousers, then wear those where the elastication is hidden by a belt. Fully elasticated trousers are fine for Rugby pants and Joggers.
Rule Number 5: avoid trousers that fit under the stomach. This makes the stomach look much larger than it actually is.
Rule Number 6: shirts that hang outside the trousers look bad on big men whatever the shirt, tuck it in your trousers!
V-necked sweaters do nothing for the larger man, especially heavy knitwear. Rule Number 7: if you want to wear a 'woolly', then wear a funnel-necked zipped front or even a button cardigan.
Rule Number 8: avoid double-breasted jackets or suits, especially those with a large lapel. Go for jackets with a strong shoulder line and longer length. A safari jacket style is ideal as the numerous pockets lead the eye away from the girth.
Rule Number 9: big men look great in a bomber style or blouson jacket. They cover many lumps and bumps and the shape is ideal for the bigger man.
Finally, Rule Number 10: we have dignity, attractiveness and strength. Dress properly and these assets will shine through.
